A devotee is in a relationship with god in one of the five different ways.
  1. One may be a devotee in a passive state.
  2. One may be a devotee in a active state.
  3. One may be a devotee as a friend.
  4. One may be a devotee as a parent.
  5. One may be a devotee as a conjugal lover.
Shri Krishna Says in Bhavgad Gita
  • He who sees me everywhere (and in everything) and everything in me - Such a person is not lost to me nor I am lost to him.
  • Fix your mind on me, make offerings to me and I will liberate you of all obstacles.
  • Remembering me, you shall overcome all difficulties through my grace. However, if you will not heed me in yourself, nothing will avail you.
We can realize god by constantly thinking of him. No matter what the attitude towards him may be. "We may love him as a parent, as our child, as our beloved or even our friends." Contemplate him as our creator, protector and the final abode to where we will return. Open your heart and pray to him. He cannot sit silent and unmoved when somebody calls him like that............... Trials and difficulties are bound to come in our way to test our strength. We should stand adamant. The invisible hand of god gives protection. A true devotee, offers himself to lord when he prays. Prayer is a real surrender. There is nothing to ask, nothing to demand. Sri Krishna says in Bhagvat Gita "Always think of me, become my devotee, worship me and offer you homage unto me thus you will come to me without fail. Abandon all varieties of religion and just surrender unto me. I shall deliver you from all sinful reaction. Do not fear."

The lord says "Call on me; I will answer your prayer."You may not believe in god, be afraid of him because man does what he can and god what he will. God loves everyone equally. He is engaged in the welfare of all. He cannot bear to see anyone suffer, and he considers anyone's pain and suffering like his own. He is all-powerful. Many devotees have overcome tremendous obstacles and hardships by remembering his name. A man without faith is like a drop thrown out of the ocean, which is bound to perish. However, he who has achieved faith on god wants nothing. When the oven of mind is made turbulent by the winds of desires, It cannot reflect god and god vision. God is only seen when the mind is tranquil. In life, the supreme umpire is god. We must have full faith on him and surrender to his decision. Deep faith can perform miracles. You can do very little with faith but you can do nothing without it. Your faith is what you believe, not what you know. Take shelter in him, and he shall take care of everything. You may not believe in god, be afraid of him because man does what he can and god what he will.
